Jelly Belly Pins (usually Sterling, Lucite belly, circa 1940's)

Trifari Jelly Belly Fairyland Rooster Pin

It measures 1 7/8” by 2”. It was designed by Alfred Philippe in 1949 according to page 162 of “American Costume Jewelry” by Brunialti. This is a wonderful collectors piece and in great condition.

Coro Sterling Vermeil Jelly Belly Frog Pin

This Frog measures 1 1/8” by 2”. It is signed CORO Sterling. Now comes the weird part! He is shaped just like the Coro Duette Frog Fur clip Pin done in 1944. Only that pin has rhinestones, not marcasites, and they were fur clips not pins. You can see that Duette on page 169 of “American Costume Jewelry” by Brunialti. If you look closely, I think the fur clip was altered to a pin. Someone must have loved this frog dearly to have changed it. It’s in wonderful condition, even the Vermeil is not worn! The Lucite belly has a few bubbles in it. You’ll probably never see one like this again.

Norma Sterling Vermeil Duck with Umbrella Jelly Belly Pin

Here is a rare pin! It measures 1 ¾” by 1” and is marked NORMA Sterling. There is another mark, but it’s unreadable. He is gold washed , Vermeil, but some is worn off, or is very light. He has a green rhinestone eye and an oval Lucite stone for the belly. He can be seen in “A Tribute to America Costume Jewelry” by Brunialti, on page 143. This circa dates this pin to 1944-45, but there is nothing actually known about this designer or company. He’s in good condition and cute as a Duck!

Norma Sterling Vermeil Jelly Belly Rabbit Pin

Here is another Norma and her most Treasured one! It is the rabbit with the top hat. . He measures 2 3/8” tall by 1 ½” wide. He has a red rhinestone eye, a clear rhinestone in his cane, and is marked Norma Sterling. He is circa dated 1944-45, along with other Norma Pieces. There is nothing actually known about this designer or company. He has wear to his vermeil, so he looks just slightly gold, more silver, but is really in good shape.

Coro Sterling Jelly Belly Fish Fur Clips

These are Coro duette fur clips. They are marked sterling and have gold wash. Neither one has Coro actually marked on them, but they are in “Costume Jewelry 202” by J. Carroll on page 54. It says they are the 1944 Adolph Katz design patent issued November 14. The mouths have a blue faceted marquis cut rhinestone and a red cabochon eye. The Lucite cabochons “Belly’s” have imbedded rhinestones. They each measure 1 3/8” by 2”. I do have the Duette pin mechanism for these fur clips, but I haven't updated the pictures yet! This is a great set for any collection.

Trifari Sterling Jelly Belly Big Fly Pin This Jelly Belly is the real the real "McCoy"! It was made by Trifari, Krussman & Fishel in 1944. Designed by Alfred Philippe, it measures 5cm by 5cm. (or 2" by 2") It was gold washed at the time of production, most has worn off, the back has more gold wash left than the front. The legs and head have that golden tone but the wings are much more silver. The Lucite belly is in great shape, and the rhinestones are all present, a few have that yellow tinge, but I wouldn't change them! This pin in featured in many books, the most recent being Marcia Brown's book Signed Beauties of Costume Jewelry 2002 on page 179. It is also featured in American Costume jewelry 1935-1950 by the Brunialtis, on page 154. This is a wonderful piece for any collector and getting harder & harder o find!

Coro Mallard Duck Jelly Belly Pin

This pin is marked Coro, but not Sterling. It is the same pattern as the 1944 design by Aldoph Katz, but I think it’s later; this could be a reproduction from the 90’s. It has the Lucite belly and the rhinestones and it’s done very well, but not being Sterling it’s not part of the original jelly belly’s. It measures 2” by 1 ¾”. It is in excellent condition.

Sterling Coro Jelly Belly Swan Pin

This Sterling with gold wash (Vermile) Coro swan pin has a round cabochon "Belly"! It is made of Lucite and measures ¾" in diameter. The swan also has clear diamantes pave set in its tail feathers.
